Fairtrade
Puro tea is Fairtrade certified. Fairtrade helps farmers and workers in developing countries gain a better place in the supply chain, so they can make a living from their work and invest in a sustainable future. The mission of Fairtrade is as follows: together we make the world fairer, with equal opportunities for all.
Climate change as well is an important issue within Fairtrade. The climate crisis is the biggest threat to the livelihoods of millions of small-scale farmers and workers in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, fertile land is being lost and global warming is amplifying the spread of crop diseases.
Fairtrade has developed a climate strategy and focuses mainly on supporting smallholder farmers. Fairtrade’s standards set conditions for sustainable production methods.

Organic
Puro tea is certified organic. Organic tea is cultivated according to European organic farming guidelines. When producing organic food, the environment and animal welfare are taken into account as much as possible.
Thus, organic tea is grown without the use of chemical pesticides and nature is central during cultivation. No chemical colourings, aromas or flavourings are used.

Fair Tea Foundation
Puro tea is hand-picked, processed and packaged in Sri Lanka. By keeping this work in the country of origin, Puro contributes to local employment and economy. But we like to do something extra for the people who live and work around the tea plantations. These are often remote areas where standard facilities are far away.
This is why the Fair Tea Foundation was founded. The aim is to give everyone around the tea plantations access to medical facilities and education. It also looks at how living conditions can be further improved.
The Fair Tea Foundation offers a helping hand here through donations and local assistance.
