With only around 400 breading pairs remaining in the wild, this reserve is vital for the protection of key nesting sites for the critically endangered Philippine Eagle.
Acres Saved

“Puro’s support to Haribon Foundation from 2025 to 2028 will enable declaration of a 10,791 hectare protected area in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. The project aims to foster collaboration with government authorities and local stakeholders, ensuring the long–term protection, and sustainable management of the protected area, as well as capacity building of the community.”
Organisation:
Haribon Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Inc.
Reserve:
Philippine Eagle Reserve
We have saved:
8,888 acres each year in 2025 & 2026
Biodiversity:
The proposed project area is a vital habitat for threatened and endemic species. It is home to critically endangered species such as Philippine Eagle, Pink-bellied imperial pigeon, Blue-naped parrot, Philippine Hanging Parrot, and Amethyst Brown Dove along with 2 endangered species Rufous hornbill and Philippine eagle owl. The area also contains endemic flora, including the Critically Endangered Yakal-kaliot, Coral Plant, Kaniuing Peneras tree, and Lady Slipper orchids.
Habitat type:
The project site is covered by a forest type ranging from Tropical Lower to Upper Montane Rain Forest and Tropical Lowland Evergreen RainForest, with species of dipterocarps, pines, ferns, orchids, and epiphytes.
Elevation:
160 – 1,783m above sea level
Location:
The project site holds high global significance for biodiversity and is classified as a Conservation Imperative Area, making it a priority site for protection. The project lies within two Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), the Mt. Dingalan KBA and Aurora Memorial National Park (AMNP). This region faces threats from slash and burn agriculture, encroachment from agricultural and development activities into upland areas, unsustainable use of natural resources, and wildlife poaching.
Saving the Rainforest
We have been buying and protecting rainforest in partnership with World Land Trust, since 2005. Take a look at all the Puro Rainforest Reserves we have created together so far.
